Small update & Q/As

Few bug fixes for the demo (build 0.1.3):

  • Fixed a few typos in the demo & abridged version
  • Lowered the volume on the rain & glass shatter sfx
  • Fixed a couple instances where Victor accidently uses the wrong pronouns for Quinn
  • Fixed missing nametags over the door in The Zoo
  • Fixed Isabella losing her coat & jewelry in the common route

Demo Plans:

After watching a playthrough I’ve started to think the common route is a bit long. 😅 I’ll probably trim things down a bit over the next few months.

Q&A’s:

Will I be spoiled playing this demo if I haven’t played Obsession?

If you intend to play Obsession, I strongly recommend playing it before playing this demo because it will give you more context to the characters, stories, and some comments the Ethereals make.

If you do not intend to play it, the demo & sequel include Obsession - Abridged. So again, I recommend playing that first for the best experience.

However, if you skip both of those, the main things you will spoil are some details about Casper & Victor.

Nothing about the plot or endings (except lots of bad happens) for Obsession will be spoiled.

I’m really confused about the Ethereal / realities stuff…?

This should make sense if you’ve completed Obsession or Obsession-Abridged. But to summarize…

The Ethereals are the guardians of reality. They were created by the gods (The Three Ancestors) with the sole purpose to protect all life.

Lux & Quispe were observing the reality of Obsession (the 1st game) because there were confusing, dangerous, and suspicious abnormalities detected. During their observations, stuff got even weirder. Lux went to the Head Councilor (her boss) to raise her concerns, but the Head Councilor was dismissive, which was weird.

Three important things to know about the Ethereals:

  1. All life is precious. Every decision the Ethereals make is with the goal to protect life.
  2. The Protocols are sacred. Essentially it’s their Bible. Super important. Criticism is offensive.
  3. Skirting the protocols without a damn good reason is suspicious as hell.

The Ethereals have a very strict and formal hierarchy system. All Ethereals serve as guardians at minimum.

From lowest to highest:

  1. Guardians (Quispe)
  2. Commanders (Lux)
  3. The Council of Elders (7 Ethereals, the Head Councilor leads this group)
  4. The Cabinet of Ascendants (3 Ethereals, the Managers of The Council)
  5. The Three Ancestors (Gods)

‘Remembrance’ is a brand new reality unrelated to ‘Obsession’.

In Obsession, Monika is the abused daughter of a mafia family and Brandon is her brother. Her mother was forcing her to become a doctor.

In Remembrance, Monika is a mentally healthy daughter of a normal, nice single mom and her sister is Vanessa (no brother). She became a paranormal research scientist.

So… how are these games related?

The Ethereal plot will tie everything together in the end. Just enjoy them as separate games for now.

Things will start to connect later in Remembrance when we get more involved with Victor.

Do the characters know…?

The characters (except for Victor & the Ethereals) don’t know or remember anything from Obsession.

Who are the love interests in Remembrance?

Love interests in Remembrance are: Sebastian, Julian, Alexander, Brandon (not a sibling anymore), Victor, & Quinn.

Victor was not an LI in Obsession, but he will be one in Remembrance. :D
