Itch.io Client users with DLC

This post is only relevant to Itch.io client users. Other users are not impacted.

I learned yesterday there was an issue with the Itch.io client resulting what appeared to be an empty folder when Alexander’s DLC was downloaded via the client specifically. (Downloading via a web browser worked.)

Apologies for this annoyance and thank you to Anna for bringing this to my attention and helping identify the source.

I have resolved this issue with a workaround. On the download page, there are now two new files - one new instructions and one patch file in a zipped folder (as the client apparently requires).

If users download the new attachment with the client, they will properly receive the normal file (the client unzips the file).

These two versions of the patch file are identical otherwise. Website users may download either. If you’ve already added the patch manually with or without the client, no action is required.

However, for now this still requires the client user to move the file into the appropriate folder.

Instructions have been attached to Alexander’s store page on how to locate and move the file.

I will investigate if I can auto-detect the DLC so the movement of the file isn’t required for client users.

Thanks!
